Things to Pack in your luggage for Korea

I am sure you would have packed all your necessities but do take time to look through the following list to double check that you really have everything you need!

  1. Do note that Korea uses two-pin plug so do bring an adaptor for your electrical plugs! I actually encourage getting a new head for your USB cable chargers as often, adaptors are loose and the fact that Korea's plug points are concaved into the wall does not help.

  2. If you plan to drive in Korea, you probably will if you are visiting Jeju (I will cover this under "Cities"), do remember to convert your driving license to international license! You can do so with S$20.

  3. CASH!!! As much as tourist places are card-friendly, I do recommend you bring some cash to purchase street food or for times when you go out of Seoul into rural areas.

  4. Refrain from bringing too many unnecessary things to Korea, because I tell you ah, you confirm buy a lot of things one. For example, beauty products, shoes, food, etc..

  5. For my vegetarian, vegan or Halal friends, sadly, Korea is still on its way to accommodate all the different diets. Even though Kimchi or any side dishes may look vegetarian friendly, we often use shrimp paste for our salty flavour or oyster sauce when applicable. We also rarely have Halal certified restaurants. I advise that you may want to bring some side food for yourself.

  6. Knee guards or comfortable walking shoes (preferably running shoes kind). Korea isn't that big but it is still bigger than Singapore. You will encounter many situations where you have to walk a good 15 mins to reach your nearest public transport option. Also, our train stations are still very stairs-heavy hence, if you have ankle or knee problems, you may want to bring knee or ankle guards.
